Practical Solutions

Priorities for District 78

These priorities reflect issues affecting District 78 residents and Angelo's commitment to listening, practical solutions, and accountable representation.

Our Focus

Grounded in Community Needs

Justice System

Prison Reform

Angelo believes meaningful prison reform begins with strengthening the correctional system itself. His priorities include better training and selection of correctional officers, appropriate pay for those entrusted with this demanding work, improved facility conditions, and greater attention to inmate safety. A safer, better-functioning correctional system benefits officers, inmates, families, and the broader community.

Economic Relief

Lowering Taxes

Angelo believes seniors who have reached the point of receiving Social Security should be able to remain in their homes without the continued burden of property taxes. He supports a property tax exemption for qualifying senior homeowners receiving Social Security, with the property returning to the established tax structure when ownership transfers. The goal is simple: provide meaningful financial relief to seniors while they remain in their homes.

Accountability

Term Limits

Angelo believes public office should remain focused on serving the people rather than becoming a permanent position. He supports term limits to encourage fresh leadership and new perspectives, reduce the influence that entrenched political relationships and special interests can have over time, and help prevent either political party from becoming too firmly established in control. Regular turnover can help keep government accountable and responsive to the people it serves.

Community Care

Street & Pedestrian Safety

Angelo believes addressing homelessness requires looking beyond the immediate need for shelter and understanding the challenges that can contribute to it. He supports connecting individuals and families with community resources while addressing issues such as mental health and drug addiction. The goal is to help people move toward greater stability while strengthening the community’s ability to respond with both compassion and practical solutions.

Community Safety

Addressing Homelessness

Angelo believes safer communities include paying attention to the everyday conditions of our streets and neighborhoods. Overgrown vegetation that limits visibility, poorly maintained roads, and other preventable hazards can create unsafe conditions for drivers and pedestrians. He supports identifying these concerns, improving routine maintenance, and addressing safety issues before they become larger problems. Keeping our streets safe and accessible is an important part of maintaining a strong community.
